Sub-zero BBQ

Good friends of us invited us out on a BBQ the other day. With sub-zero temperatures the idea was as compelling as it was a natural thing to do. After all, we are a bunch of “hardcore Vikings” that don’t mind the cold weather or the chance to hang out with friends while the kids are playing in the woods with sticks and knives. In other words, this is your typical Norwegian weekend stroll with the kids :)

We packed our “gear” (wood, BBQ spears, sitting pads, warm drinks etc.) and got the kids out the door. On our way we stopped to buy some hot-dogs and small encouragements for the kids (non-needed of course).

Once there we started a fire while the kids were playing. After a short while started barbecuing hot-dogs and hot-dogs wrapped in bacon … ;) Sitting in the sun, feeling the fresh air and warmth of the fire is really nice. Doing it with family and friends is even better!

On our way back the fathers took the oldest kids over the hill and back home. Coming down from Øyjorden the kids enjoyed sliding down the hills on ice … No need for expensive trips to your local theme-park or whatever … take the kids outdoors, and you’ll have all the fun you can think of just using “mother nature”!

Another great day outdoors!
