Surviving Xmas as a Treehugger
As a true non-believer, and border-case atheist, I must admit there are certain aspects of Christmas I just take for granted without actually reflecting on why we do things a certain way. However, in the middle of Christmas it’s probably not the best time to start a discussion on Jesus Christ and other super-stars. I am actually more interested in treehuggers, and more how they actually manage to survive Christmas.
Why? There is one thing that says Christmas, maybe more than anything else, and that is the old and trusty tradition of chopping down your own Christmas tree. Having a Christmas tree, dressing it and putting gifts underneath is to many of us a deeply rooted and symbolic tradition. At least if you are at that age where nothing but gifts matter … which, for some, lasts your whole life
Anyways, since chopping your own tree is such a tradition how does a treehugger survive Christmas?
When you start wondering, you start asking questions, and what better place to get your questions answered than on TreeHugger.com? After a search on Christmas Tree the answer was obvious, or was it?
TreeHugger.com recommends chopping down your own tree! Hey, what’s wrong with these guys … oh, wait … it has to be green and organic! Of course, noone sells artificial green and organic trees! Being a treehugger must be confusing … not only are you allowed to chop down your own tree, but you have to get one that’s organic and green! In other words, plastic fantastic is out of the picture … completely! How they survive Christmas is still a mystery to me, but hey, that’s what Christmas is all about …
